When your child’s tooth is knocked out, it can be a painful experience. When this occurs, remain calm and help your child avoid panicking. If possible, find the tooth. Touch only the crown, and gently rinse it with water if it is dirty. Do not use any kind of soap, and do not dry it or wrap it in cloth or tissue. If possible, reinsert it into the socket and have your child hold it in place by gently biting down. If the tooth cannot be reinserted, place it into a glass of milk or cover it in your child’s saliva and bring your child and the tooth to Sunny Smiles Dentistry as soon as possible.
Time is of the essence in saving and reinserting your child’s tooth. If you can bring your child to meet with Dr. Sunny, Dr. Nobel and associates within 30 minutes of the tooth being knocked out, we can often successfully place it back in your child’s mouth.
